A warm welcome

Located in Horsham, Ss Michael & John’s Primary School provides a quality education to the Catholic families of the St. Paul VI Parish and the surrounding rural areas.

SMJ Horsham also welcomes the enrolment of all students and families who share their vision and education philosophy.

Principal’s Message

The motto of Ss Michael and John’s Primary School sits at the heart of every decision that we make. This ensures that at all times it is the children who are central to everything we do. We recognise that they are our future and that it is our responsibility to help them to create a viable life in a world that is so different to the generations preceding them. Today’s children are growing up in a fast-paced,  ever developing global world. More so now, than at any other time in history, it is vital that our children are not only literate and numerate, they need to be highly adaptive, critical and creative thinkers and problem solvers with highly developed communication skills.

The teaching programs that we offer at Ss Michael and John’s address the spiritual, intellectual, academic, personal and interpersonal needs of each student. Research informs us of the importance of the Arts, Physical Education and Languages in developing the whole child, cultivating their abilities across all areas of the curriculum, broadening students’ brain function and stimulating creativity.

At the heart of all that we do is the teaching of Jesus Christ and the principles of Social Justice. If we succeed in educating the students who walk through our doors to recognise the dignity of each person, to respond to injustice at local and global levels and to respect and promote the rights of individuals, then we will have succeeded in educating them to be citizens of the world, doing great deeds as Jesus commanded.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

These words from Jeremiah speak of the vision that all who work at Ss Michael and John’s strive for with every child entrusted to our care.

May the Grace of Jesus Christ be with you,

Andrea Cox

Curriculum Overview

In today’s world, educators need to be aware of not just the academic needs of the children. For children to be successful learners they need to feel connected to and safe at school. At Ss Michael and John’s we recognise the importance of developing the social, emotional and spiritual needs of our children. Our junior children have opportunities to play through our developmental curriculum.
